In the first hours of the year, the community of beauty professionals not only greeted each other with New Year's greetings, but also eagerly awaited the announcement of the results of the International Distance Championship on the computer screens. Lithuania has a lot to be proud of: in more than one nomination, our country's name rang out!
The OMC International Beauty Championships were broadcast from New York: due to the pandemic, the beauty fiesta was moved from Paris to New York and was held remotely. The OMC brings together almost half a million beauty professionals from nearly 50 countries. "It is an honour and prestige for Lithuanian representatives to take part in this very prestigious beauty fiesta," said Jolanta Mačiulienė, President of the Lithuanian Hairdressers and Beauty Specialists Association (KIGSA). On the eve of this New Year's Eve, Jolanta Mačiulienė was also highly appreciated and honoured: by the decision of the Board of Directors of the OMC and the heads of the organisation, Gianni Fodera and Salvatore Fodera, she was awarded the title of OMC Ambassador for her contribution to the activities of the world beauty organisation.
More than two thousand participants from all over the world competed in the International Beauty Championship. Participation was free of charge: the OMC management appreciated the difficult global situation due to the pandemic and, in solidarity with beauty professionals, waived the entry fees for the participants. Our country was represented by 25 members of the OMC Lithuanian national team, from various beauty professions.
Lithuanian masters won two bronze medals in different categories at this championship.
Elona Maciūnaitė-Minkevičienė came third in the eyebrow design competition and won a bronze medal. Dalia Gečienė also won bronze in the body painting category, beating out competitors from many countries.
Other members of the national beauty team also achieved quite high results. For example, Lidija Ivanova came 10th in the men's haircut category. Marina Sivinskienė came seventh in the aesthetics sector in the special make-up competition. Gabrielė Sabaliauskaitė was only a few positions behind her, and was ranked in the world's top ten. Vita Radiun-Kuznetsova, another make-up and eyebrow design artist, was also in tenth position.
Margarita Sajeta-Vasilko, the pioneer of body painting in our country, a trainer and master with a lot of imagination and knowledge, won the honourable sixth place, only half a point away from the fifth prize place. Dovilė Zaukevičiūtė achieved one of the best results in the history of the OMC Lithuanian national team in the manicure sector.
This young professional was not intimidated by the grandmasters from the world's big countries and came 7th in the Fantasy category.
"I am glad that in such a difficult time, when there are so many constraints and limitations around, Lithuanian masters find in themselves the strength, the desire, the means to create, to improve, to raise their professional level, they are not afraid of the challenges and accept them very responsibly in their preparation for competitions. We thank the representatives of our country and wish them to keep going, because this year there are many more championships to come! And what would a championship be without talented and gifted Lithuanian beauty professionals?", says J. Mačiulienė, the head of KIGSA, with a smile, having paved the way for our country's representatives to enter the international waters of the beauty world. According to J. Mačiulienė, KIGSA is a strong, dynamic organisation, very active and defending the rights of its members, which is always able to help and listen to its members.
At the end of last year, the international beauty organisation OMC awarded and appreciated well-known Lithuanian specialists. Irena Žinevičienė, a master of men's haircutting and a certified member of the OMC jury, has received worldwide recognition: she has been named OMC Lithuanian National Trainer. Inga Kavalčinskienė, a member of the Aesthetics Sector Board, was awarded the same title, as she trained the masters not only for the Lithuanian but also for the OMC World Championship, and they achieved very high marks. The recognition was also given to Diana Bučinskienė, KIGSA Board Member and Head of the Manicure and Pedicure Sector.
